The lyric for Song For Ruth is written about Jon’s Mum, who died December 28th 2019 and spoke to the musical legacy she left for her sons. This was another track released in a prolific period in September 2020. But in reality, deliBass had been working on the track, off and on, since 2017. The original solos by Alexander Nettlebeck were retained but a new part recorded by Jonny Tobin and the vocal delivered by the wonderful Ruva. Preben Raunsbjerg, the Danish Wizard, on guitar. Another tune released in Covid lockdown in Melbourne.
"I’m privileged to have worked with Jon on tour in 2016. His skill on the bass and his vocal talent are exemplary and his work ethic is incredible. He’s earned my respect both as a musician and a person."
Eddie Allen, Guitarist - Marty Wilde and The Wildcats. Ex Editor Guitarist Magazine.
"Apart from being a genuinely lovely guy he is also a top bass man. Check out the JENNER, MELLOR rhythm section on the last OUCH album MEDWAY DOG..".
Clive Jenner, drummer - Groove Armada, Lenny Kravitz, The Proclaimmers, The Freestylers
"First and foremost Jon is an excellent bass player with a superb knack for writing lyrical, melodic bass lines for original material. If you’re playing covers, Jon is not only a quick learner – but more importantly when the parts have entered his mind they stay there and will be delivered consistently at any time under any circumstance."
Preben Raunsbjerg, Producer and guiatrist - James Burton's band
"His bass playing and harmonies are second to none in all the different styles of music that we covered and he is the most honest and hardworking bloke I have ever worked with.”
Kevin Taylor, Ouch!
