mango bone grew out of the collaboration of Jon Mellor and DJ Oomz. The pair launched mango bone in 2010 as a home for the house tracks that were coming out of the deliBass project.
The first track to be released was the wonderfully mellow Pure Beauty. Featuring Jonny Tobin, Canadian keys player, with Preben Raunsbjerg on guitar and a cameo from Ruva on vocals. This was to be followed a month later by Edges Of Neon, again with Jonny Tobin and Preben joining Jon and Umz on an old deliBass track, originally recorded with Alexander Nettleback on keys.
We then had to wait another 9 months for the next release but it was worth it. Faux Suave ep is a thumping 4-track collection, really showcasing the melody and solid bass rhythms of Jon on bass and Umz on drum programming, with the virtuosic skills of Jonny on keys. Beautifully put together by Umz – a real treat, with Playground Memories the pick of the bunch.
A more soulful collection came next with the release of the digital dystopia ep.
Another collaboration with Jonny Tobin. These lofi-ish, jazztronic, beat instrumentals serve up a tasty arrangement of blines, soulful keys and synth-y solo deftness, sliding nicely into the genre of jazztronica!
